Nurturing a Greener Tomorrow: Our Commitment to Sustainability and engaging with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s)
At Finn Valley College, we are deeply committed to fostering a culture of environmental awareness and action within our school community, empowering our students to become agents of positive change for a greener school and a healthier planet.
Beyond our environmental efforts, our school is proud to align our sustainability initiatives with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These 17 interconnected global goals provide a roadmap for a better and more sustainable future for all. From Quality Education (SDG 4) and Gender Equality (SDG 5) to Climate Action (SDG 13) and Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), the SDGs offer a framework for understanding and addressing the challenges facing our world.
Through classroom learning, student-led projects, and community engagement, our students are actively exploring how these goals connect to their lives, both locally and globally. Our active Green Schools Committee, driven by students and supported by dedicated teachers, oversees many of the initiatives, from energy-saving, waste reduction, recycling and biodiversity. By fostering a deep understanding of the SDGs, we are empowering our students to become informed and active global citizens.
Finn Valley College celebrated SDG week on Monday the 20th of September. Read the Newsletter below to learn more about our students engaged with learning about Sustainability during this week.
