How You Can Help Your Child in Finn Valley College

  • Talk daily: Open communication is key. Check in on how they’re doing – emotionally and academically.
  • Encourage participation: Encouraging your child to get involved in extra-curricular activities helps build friendships and confidence.
  • Check the Homework Journal every day: It’s essential for keeping up with homework and school notes. Don’t forget to sign it!
  • Support organisation: Help your child develop routines for packing their bag, completing assignments, and using their locker (before school, at break, and lunch).
  • Use VSware: Download the app to monitor attendance, reports, and communication from teachers. Keep your username and password safe!
  • Stay informed via Google Classroom: This is our online classrrom where teachers post assignments, class content and feedback. Join our parent night class in September to get the most from this tool.
  • Encourage attendance – regular attendance is essential because it helps your child build strong routines, stay on top of their learning, and feel connected to school life.
  • Encourage active participation
  • Positive affirmation – builds confidence
  • Manage their access to social media / internet
  • Keep a copy of their timetable
