Home School Community Liaison Coordinator (HSCL)

My name is Barry Harron and as the Home School Community Liaison (HSCL) Coordinator at Finn Valley College, my role is to build strong relationships between home, school, and the wider community to support parents and guardians in their child’s education. My aim is to ensure that every child has the best possible learning experience by working closely with families, teachers, and community services.

How I Support Parents

I offer a range of supports to parents and guardians, including:

  • Home Visits – A friendly and confidential way to discuss any concerns or needs in the comfort of your home.
  • Parental Courses & Workshops – Opportunities to learn new skills, from parenting support to personal development and career skills.
  • School Support & Information – Guidance on school-related matters such as attendance, learning resources, and student well-being.
  • Community Links – Connecting families with local support services, including financial, mental health, and educational resources.
  • One-to-One Support – A listening ear and practical advice for any challenges you may face in supporting your child’s education.
  • Transition Support – Helping parents and children with key educational transitions, such as starting primary or secondary school.
  • Coffee Mornings & Events – Creating opportunities for parents to connect, share experiences, and engage with the school community.
