Here at Finn Valley College, students have excellent opportunities to get involved in extra-curricular activities by joining some of the many clubs that we have to offer.
A schedule of events will be advertised at the beginning of the year with times and dates.
Gaisce
Finn Valley College offers students over the age of 14 the opportunity to participate in the Gaisce Awards (Bronze, Silver and Gold) where they complete a Personal Skill, a Physical Recreation Activity, a Community Involvement Activity culminating with a very enjoyable Adventure Journey. Ms Treanor and Ms Collum co-ordinate the programme.
Art club
The Art Club is for students who wish to spend more time on art by pursuing independent work studies, or try out new art competitions/ projects not pursued in art class.
Darts Club
Finn Valley College offers students the chance to enjoy lunchtime darts matches in a fun and friendly setting, with opportunities to compete against other schools throughout the year.
Numero Club
Numero is a fun mathematical game of cards that is designed for players of all ages to help develop numeracy and problem-solving skills. At lunchtime, students of all years and academic ability can join in and play games with one another in a fun and sometimes competitive challenges. Ms Hackett oversees the club and there are students happy to share their knowledge and teach the game to anyone interested.
Vex Robotics Club
This club is co-ordinated by Ms Mc Geehan and allows for students to increase their interest and involvement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by engaging students in hands-on, affordable, and sustainable robotics engineering programs. The small team meet throughout the year and compete in the VEX Robotics Competitions at regional events.
Homework/Study Club
The Homework club runs in block sessions at different terms during the year. The club allows a quiet and relaxed setting for students to complete homework and opportunities to study with the help of a tutor who supports and guides.
Get Active Club
This club meets after school once a week in the Finn Valley Centre allowing students of all year groups to meet and participate in a range of sport activities and games to help get active and keep fit. Mr Mc Daid our PE teacher co-ordinates the club.
Music Club
Under the talent of Ms Bogle, the music club meets weekly for those students who wish to further develop their music skills and get involved in the school choir.
Lunchtime Club
During lunchtime a number of rooms are open for students to congregate and meet up with friends. These include the computer club, chess and games club.
